HKBU receives donation from Dragon Ginseng International Group to set up scholarship
The University recently received a generous donation of HK$120,000 from the Dragon Ginseng International Group designated for the establishment of the “World Ginseng Organisation Scholarship”. Two scholarships will be awarded annually to outstanding Year 2 or above students majoring in Biotechnology of Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Applied Biology for three years starting from the 2019/20 academic year.
In recognition of the Group’s generosity, an agreement signing ceremony officiated by Dr. Hsieh Lung Fei, Chairman of the Dragon Ginseng International Group and Founder of the World Ginseng Organisation, and Professor Gordon Tang, Director of Student Affairs, was held on 4 March 2020. The ceremony was witnessed by representatives and guests of the Dragon Ginseng International Group and the World Ginseng Organisation; Professor Nagar Lai, Founder of Corporate Social Responsibility TV Channel; Professor Jonathan Wong, Head of the Department of Biology and Director of the Hong Kong Organic Resource Centre; Dr. Stephen Sze Cho Wing, Research Assistant Professor of the Department of Biology; and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation.
Professor Tang and Mrs. Chan, on behalf of the University, presented a souvenir and the HKBU Chinese Medicine Influenza Prevention Remedy to Dr. Hsieh in appreciation of the Group’s staunch support.
