HKBU researchers share insights on combating COVID-19
At a webinar titled “Combating COVID-19: Hindsight 20/20?” held on 22 May 2020, HKBU researchers shared their research endevours related to the COVID-19 outbreak. The e-workshop drew a large audience including a number of HKBU Foundation members such as Professor James Tsien and Mr. Christopher Lau, Honorary Court Members of HKBU.
Professor Guo Yike, Vice-President (Research and Development), said in his opening remarks, “The COVID-19 pandemic is a crisis which affects all mankind. In human history, whenever there was a crisis, the universities responded with the strength of intelligence and moral spirit.”
Since the COVID-19 outbreak, HKBU has been conducting around 100 related research projects, which can be grouped under five key themes, namely “finding a cure”, “controlling the infection and spread”, “media’s role during COVID-19”, “interacting with society”, and “policy research”. The e-workshop aimed to serve as a platform for the HKBU community to exchange relevant insights and identify opportunities for collaboration.
