“Sun Yat-sen Parks in the World” Database
Funded by the “Dr. Sun Yat-sen Research Fund” jointly established by Luen Thai International Group Ltd., the Tan Siu Lin Foundation, and the Sun Yat-sen Education and Charity Foundation, HKBU’s Department of History collaborated with the University Library in 2016 to launch the “Sun Yat-sen Parks in the World” database.
As the name suggests, Sun Yat-sen Parks commemorate Sun Yat-sen (1866-1925). At present, there are 106 Sun Yat-sen Parks worldwide, scattered across the Greater China Region, the United States, Canada and Singapore. It is beyond doubt that having these parks is an important way to memorialise the life of Sun Yat-sen. Through this online database, visitors can learn more about the history and landscape of the Parks in different places. Photos with captions can be seen throughout the website, allowing visitors to have a decent visual experience of the Parks in a convenient manner.
The database is also sponsored by Hung Hin Shiu Charitable Foundation Limited and the Institute of Creativity of HKBU.
