The University recently received a generous donation from the Lam Kin Chung Morning Sun Charity Fund, Honorary Vice-President of the HKBU Foundation. HK$150,000 is designated for the Consulate-General-in-Residence Programme (CGiR), while HK$60,000 is for the establishment of the Lam Kin Chung-Ikeda Scholarship.

Established in 2004, CGiR is one of the University’s pioneering international programmes which aims to foster campus internationalisation by inviting Consuls-General in Hong Kong to share their insights with students, staff and the general public, enabling a fruitful exchange of knowledge in world affairs between the University and the community. Over the past years, a total of 47 Consuls-General were invited to join the Programme.

The Lam Kin Chung-Ikeda Scholarship will provide six scholarships of HK$10,000 each to eligible students to support their participation in overseas exchange from the academic year 2022/23 to 2024/25 to help broaden their global horizons and enrich their cross-cultural learning experiences.

Dr. Lam Kin Chung, Chairman of the Lam Kin Chung Morning Sun Charity Fund, is a staunch supporter of HKBU. Over the years, Dr. Lam has made several donations in support of our CGiR and Harvard National Model United Nations conferences. He is currently Chairman of Zhong Yang Group Holdings Ltd.
