The Federation of Hong Kong Chiu Chow Community Organizations hosted the “Celebratory Party for the 72th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China” at Island Shangri-La Hotel on 28 September 2021. Officiating guests included The Hon. Mrs. Carrie Lam, GBM, GBS, Chief Executive of the HKSAR; The Hon. John Lee, SBS, PDSM, JP, Chief Secretary for Administration; The Hon. Paul Chan, GBM, GBS, MH, JP, Financial Secretary; The Hon. Teresa Cheng, GBM, GBS, SC, JP, Secretary for Justice; and Dr. Bunny Chan, GBM, GBS, JP, Chairman of the Federation. The event was well attended by around 400 dignitaries and honourable guests. A number of HKBU Foundation members were also invited to join the celebration. They included Dr. the Hon. Bernard Charnwut Chan, GBM, GBS, JP; Mr. Lam Fung Lam, MH; Dr. Lam Tai Fai, SBS, JP; Ms. Leonie Ki, GBS, JP; Dr. Dennis Ng, SBS, MH; Dr. Allen Shi, BBS, MH, JP; Ms. Connie Wong, GBS, JP; and Mr. William Xie. Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation, attended the event on behalf of the University.
