HKBU receives donation from Dr. Lady Delia Pei Chen Chi Kuen to establish Funful Early Childhood Education Scholarship




The University recently received a generous donation of HK$250,000 from Dr. Lady Delia Pei Chen Chi Kuen, BBS, JP, Chairman of Funful Group of Schools, which is designated for the establishment of Funful Early Childhood Education Scholarship.
In appreciation of Dr. Chen’s generosity, an agreement signing and cheque presentation ceremony was held on 15 December 2021. Officiating at the ceremony were Dr. Lady Delia Pei Chen Chi Kuen, BBS, JP; Professor Alexander Wai, President and Vice-Chancellor, and Professor Ronald Chung, Dean of School of Continuing Education (SCE) of HKBU. The ceremony was witnessed by Professor Nagar Lai, Founder of Corporate Social Responsibility TV; Dr. Amelia Lee, MH, Associate Dean (Programme Development) and Head of Early Childhood and Elementary Education of SCE; and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Chen’s said, "Early childhood education is a key to individual growth and is closely connected to family education. In addition to promoting early childhood education, HKBU can also promote family education, which will complement each other and foster family development."
Professor Chung expressed his deep gratitude to Dr. Chen for her generous support towards HKBU. He praised Dr. Chen as a highly experienced and professional educator who has been enthusiastically promoting and remarkably contributing to education, early childhood and youth development. He believed that the Funful Early Children Education Scholarship would assist and benefit more students to achieve and pursue academic excellence.
Starting from the academic year of 2022-23, one or two scholarships will be awarded annually to new outstanding undergraduate students with outstanding HKDSE scores admitted to Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Early Childhood Education. Each scholarship recipient will receive an award of HK$25,000 or HK$50,000.
