The HKBU Foundation records with deepest sorrow over the passing of Mr. Choi Hin To, MH, Managing Director of Hong Kong Garment Mfg. Co., Ltd., donor of the University, on 23 September 2022 at the age of 97.

Mr. Choi, a Chiu Chow leader who started his career in the garment and textile industry, served as president or honorary president of various associations, including the Federation of Hong Kong Garment Manufacturers, the Hong Kong Chiu Chow Chamber of Commerce and the Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong, contributing significantly to the development of the textiles and clothing sector.

Devoting himself to charitable causes, promoting education and nurturing youngsters, the highly-respected entrepreneur established Yan Chai Hospital Choi Hin To Primary School and served as the council or board member of many schools in Hong Kong, such as Hong Kong Weaving Mills Association Chu Shek Lun Secondary School, Chiu Chow Association Secondary School and Chiu Yang Primary School of Hong Kong. Mr. Choi also supported the development of HKBU students through the HKBU Development Fund and scholarships.

The Foundation conveys its heartfelt condolences to Mr. Choi’s family at this time of bereavement. He will always be remembered for his zealous support for the University's development.
