HKBU and NVIDIA jointly host symposium
Jointly organised by HKBU's Department of Computer Science and NVIDIA Corporation, the Symposium on AI, Metaverse and Beyond, one of the world’s hottest topics, was held in hybrid mode on 2 December 2022, which attracted many academics and industry professionals who are enthusiastic about this irreversible trend.
Professor Simon See, Chief Solutions Architect and Global Head of the NVIDIA AI Technology Centre, was the keynote speaker of the Symposium. He shared his insights on how mathematics, data, simulation and AI together make digital twins possible for different applications. Professor See’s inspirational talk was followed by research presentations delivered by three scholars of the Department of Computer Science, as well as several postgraduate students who were interns of the NVIDIA AI Technology Centre. Professor William Cheung Kwok Wai, Associate Vice-President (Undergraduate Programmes) was the host of the Symposium. Professor Liu Jiming, Associate Vice-President (Research Development), and Dean of Science, also attended the Symposium and presented a souvenir to the guest speaker on behalf of the University. The tech giant has collaborated with different universities and rolled out programmes to drive significant technical growth for the benefits of academia, the industry and the wider community.
