Officiating guests, staff and students gathered at 5/F podium of Shek Mun Campus to appreciate the artwork

The artwork comprises seven coloured laminated glass panels with the central circular one supported by a stone-like metal. The colours reflected by the glass panels change with time and light refraction and the moving light symbolises “His passing glory”

With the generous support of the Kwok Chung Bo Fun Charitable Fund, Honorary Permanent President of the HKBU Foundation, a set of artwork taking inspiration from the life of Moses entitled “His Passing Glory” was created and placed at the Shek Mun Campus, College of International Education (CIE) of HKBU. The design of the artwork is inspired by the Book of Exodus of the Bible and comprises seven coloured laminated glass panels with the central circular piece supported by a stone-like metal. The art installation mimics the sun’s position throughout the day, aiming to encourage the discovery of the nature of light through surrounding rocks.

The Artwork Launching Ceremony was held on 28 April 2023. The Ceremony was well attended by guests and HKBU representatives including Mr. Raymond Kwok, representative of the Kwok Chung Bo Fun Charitable Fund; Dr. Leung Wing Tai, Consultant of the Project; Professor Ronald Chung, Dean of the School of Continuing Education (SCE)and Acting Director of CIE; Dr. Amelia Lee, MH, Associate Dean (Programme Development) cum Head of Early Childhood and Elementary Education of SCE; Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation; and Ms. Kay Choy, Director of Estates.

Professor Chung expressed his wish in his welcoming address that students would be inspired by the stories of the artwork, be humble on their journey of learning, and not be disheartened even if they encounter challenges. Mr. Raymond Kwok said, "I would like to express my special thanks to the project consultant Dr. Leung Wing Tai and designer Mr. Gabriel Leung for their creations, as well as the team and faculty members of CIE. I sincerely hope that the artwork can inspire and motivate students to pursue their spiritual growth." Please click here to learn more about the artwork.

The Kwok Chung Bo Fund Charitable Fund is a long-standing supporter of HKBU, always giving generously to support various endeavours including the enhancement of the campuses. In 2015, the Fund supported the installation of the mosaic mural “Tree of Life” at Li Promenade; in 2019, it initiated to display a set of artwork known as the “Spring of Living Water” at the Entrance Plaza on Baptist University Road (BUR) Campus; in 2021, a mosaic mural titled “Jesus Washes the Disciples’ Feet” was installed at Level 3 of the Academic and Administrative Building on BUR Campus. The concepts of these three sets of art pieces stem from the teachings of Christianity, reflecting that the heritage of Christian education has been preserved at HKBU.
