08 July 2023

With the support of the Lord Wilson Heritage Trust, donor of the University, Mr. Vincent Ho Chung Hang and Miss Novem Ho Tsz Wing, Research Associate and Teaching Assistant of the Department of History at HKBU respectively, co-authored a new book (些子往事:香港的盆景藝術與文化史) and were interviewed by media to introduce it. The book is also included in the Modern History Research Centre’s publication series.

Penjing is an art form which miniaturies the natural beauty of mountains, trees and the wilderness, encapsulating it into artistic potted plants. The new book excavates and preserves the historical materials of Hong Kong’s penjing culture, and also records the insights of Dr. Wu Yee Sun, who is internationally acclaimed as “Pen Sheng” (the Sage in the art of penjing). With the generous donation of Dr. Wu, the Man Lung Garden on the HKBU campus is the only garden in the urban area of Hong Kong where people can appreciate precious penjings.
