The University recently received a generous donation of HK$300,000 from Mrs. Kam Yu Yuk Ho, designated for the establishment of an endowment fund in support of the “Kam Fung Chau Memorial Scholarship” in loving memory of her late husband. Starting from the academic year 2023-24, a grant of HK$6,000 each will be awarded annually to two outstanding Year 2 or above full-time undergraduate students from the School of Chinese Medicine (SCM).

In recognition of the donor’s benefaction, an agreement signing ceremony officiated by Mrs. Kam and Dr. Rosa Tang, Acting Director of Student Affairs, was held on 1 August 2023. The ceremony was witnessed by Professor Li Min, Associate Dean (Teaching and Learning) of SCM; and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation. Other guests attending the ceremony included Mr. Kam Fung Chiu, Ms. Esther Wong and Ms. Wong Kwok Yee.

Mrs. Kam is currently the Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of Asia Women’s League. She has actively participated in charitable causes over the years. She hopes that the Scholarship will alleviate students’ financial burden, thereby enabling them to realise their aspirations and contributing to the betterment of society.

After the ceremony, the guests toured around the Dr. & Mrs. Hung Hin Shiu Museum of Chinese Medicine and The Bank of China (Hong Kong) Chinese Medicines Centre for a better understanding of SCM’s competitive edges
