HKBU receives donation from Raymond Wong Pak Ming Foundation for Film and Chinese Medicine scholarships




HKBU recently received a generous donation of HK$200,000 from Mr. Raymond Wong, MH, Chairman of the Raymond Wong Pak Ming Foundation and Director of Mandarin Motion Pictures Limited (Mandarin Motion Pictures), in support of the establishment of the “Raymond Wong Pak Ming Foundation Film Scholarship” and the “Raymond Wong Pak Ming Foundation Chinese Medicine Scholarship”.
In the five academic years starting from 2023-24, grants of HK$10,000 each will be awarded annually to two outstanding students from the Academy of Film and the School of Chinese Medicine respectively.
In recognition of the donor’s beneficence, an agreement signing ceremony was signed by Mr. Raymond Wong and Professor Henry Fock, Director of Student Affairs, at a ceremony held on 26 September, 2023. Witnessing the ceremony were Ms. Alvina Wong, Director of Mandarin Motion Pictures; Professor Jia Wei, Acting Dean of Chinese Medicine; Mr. Norman Chan, Associate Director of the Academy of Film; and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation.
Other attending guests included Ms. Anita Wong, Director of Mandarin Motion Pictures; Ms. Jenny Wong, Director of Skywork Media Limited; as well as HKBU representatives, including Dr. Robert Ellis-Geiger, Associate Director of the Academy of Film; Mr. Chen Yimin, Programme Director of Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Film and Television; Mr. Gilbert Po, Programme Director of HD in Creative Film Production; Dr. Sonia Au, Associate Programme Director of Master of Fine Arts in Film, Television and Digital Media; Mr. Saville Chan, Associate Professor of Practice of the Academy of Film; Professor Li Min, Associate Dean (Teaching & Learning) of the School of Chinese Medicine; Dr. Anna Kwan, Associate Director and Associate Professor of Chinese Medicine - Teaching and Research Division; Professor Simon Han, Professor of Chinese Medicine - Teaching and Research Division; and Dr. Cheung King Ho, Associate Professor of Chinese Medicine - Teaching and Research Division.
Mr. Raymond Wong, a renowned Hong Kong film producer, has produced and distributed many blockbuster movies and made tremendous contributions to the industry. As an Honorary Consultant to the Academy of Film, he is dedicated to nurturing talents and advancing the development of film education.
