The HKBU Foundation records with deepest sorrow the passing of Dr. Joseph Fong Shi Piu, former Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Science at the City University of Hong Kong (CityU), Honorary Vice-President of the HKBU Foundation, on 28 October 2023 at the age of 74.

As a Christian educator with extensive experience at CityU, Dr. Fong created new software, databases and e-learning tools to meet the needs of students’ development. Dr. Fong together with his wife, Mrs. Christine Fong Wong Yuk Mun, have attended the services at Rev. James Mau Memorial Chapel of HKBU for a long time. Since 2009, they have made a number of donations in support of the Chaplain’s Office, promoting the spiritual growth of the University’s community.

The Foundation coveys its heartfelt condolences to Dr. Fong’s family at this time of bereavement. He will always be remembered for his zealous support for the University.
