Two scholars honoured in the 7th Cheung On Tak International Award for Outstanding Contribution to Chinese Medicine

Two academics have been awarded the 7th Cheung On Tak International Award for Outstanding Contribution to Chinese Medicine, namely Academician Liu Liang, Professor at Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, and Professor Xu Anlong, President of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. The Award Ceremony-cum-Award Lectures will be held on 27 March 2024 on HKBU campus.

The two renowned academics are among the most influential Chinese Medicine scholars on the Mainland, whose achievements have profound implications for the modernisation and internationalisation of traditional Chinese medicine. As former Dean of the HKBU School of Chinese Medicine, Academician Liu Liang is also Director of the Academic Committee at Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine and a specialist in internal medicine of traditional Chinese medicine. Professor Xu is a leading expert in molecular biology and immunology, and his main research focuses on understanding the origin and evolution of vertebrate immune system as well as discovering new drugs based on basic researches.

Established in 2011 by the School of Chinese Medicine with the generous donation from the Cheung On Tak Charity Foundation, the Award aims to honour scientists and scholars who have made groundbreaking and internationally recognised achievements in advancing the internationalisation of Chinese medicine or Chinese medicine research.
