In Memoriam: Dr. Eddy Li, GBS, JP

The HKBU Foundation records with deepest sorrow the passing of Dr. Eddy Li Sau Hung, GBS, JP, Chairman of Campell Holdings Limited, Director of the HKBU Foundation, on 25 March 2024.

Dr. Li was a renowned industrialist and business leader. Aside from having a decades-long career in the watch industry, he also set foot in a broad range of businesses, from electronics, finance, real estate and hotel to art and antiques investment. Recognised for his business acumen and innovative mindset, Dr. Li engaged in the revitalisation of industrial buildings as early as 2010. His achievements in driving the industrial and economic transformation of Hong Kong gained widespread recognition. Dr. Li was named one of the Hong Kong Ten Outstanding Young Persons in 1991 and received the Young Industrialist Award of Hong Kong in 1993.

Dr. Li dedicated his entire life to public and community service, having made significant contributions to the promotion of Hong Kong’s economic and trade activities, culture and arts and youth development in various capacities, including as a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, the 40th President of the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong, the President of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Association, and the Chairman of Hong Kong Chinese Arts and Culture Promotion Foundation. He was also a renowned photographer, whose works had been published in photo books and National Geographic Magazine.

Dr. Li was a longtime friend of HKBU, rendering ardent support for the development of the University on various fronts. He was an Honorary Court Member of HKBU, a former consultant to the University's China Studies Programme, and a generous benefactor who established scholarships through Campell Holdings Limited.

The Foundation conveys its heartfelt condolences to Dr. Li’s family at this time of bereavement. He will always be remembered for his remarkable contributions to the University, Hong Kong and the Nation at large.
