02 May 2024

The University recently received another donation from Providence Foundation Limited (the Foundation) in support of its eponymous bursaries for HKBU students. The Providence Foundation Bursaries has been in place since 1996, offering 15 bursaries each year to needy students based on merit. So far, funding for the bursaries have amounted to a total of HK$2.35 million.

The Foundation, which is an Honorary Permanent President of the HKBU Foundation, was founded in 1989 by the late Mr. H.M. Lui, whose son, Mr. Edward Lui, Chairman and Director of Providence Foundation, extended the legacy of his father by continuing the Foundations’ support for the University.

The Foundation is committed to improving the livelihoods of people in Hong Kong and Mainland China through its charity work in education, healthcare, services for people with intellectual disabilities, leadership training as well as disaster relief. It also helped launch the Providence Foundation Elderly Care Programme and the Positive Ageing Learners Programme, which enabled students to reach out to the world through community service while sending a message across to the public on the importance of active ageing.
