Five Shanghai-bound HKBU students join HK-Shanghai Internship Programme 2024
On 22 June 2024, five Chinese Medicine students from HKBU embarked on a 43-day journey in Shanghai with an internship programme “HK-Shanghai Internship Award”.
A kick-off ceremony for the programme was held on 15 June 2024 with The Hon. Mrs. Carrie Lam, GBM, GBS, JP, former Chief Executive of the HKSAR, delivering a speech. In her address, Mrs. Lam encouraged the 30 local university students participating in the programme to deepen their understanding of Shanghai’s latest developments and local culture. Ms. Maggie Chan Man Ki, MH, JP, Permanent President of All-China Women’s Federation Hong Kong Delegates Association Ltd., also expressed hope that the programme of activities would help to bring myriad benefits to the participants. A number of the HKBU Foundation members were also present, including Mrs. Sophia Dan, BBS, MH, JP; Mrs. Virginia Yim, MH; and Ms. Gilda Liu.
It was the first time that the HKBU School of Chinese Medicine, upon the recommendation of Mrs. Dan and Ms. Liu, recruited students to join the programme. The students who successfully enrolled in the programme have the opportunity to intern at the Shanghai Municipal Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and attend various social and cultural activities. Co-organised by the All-China Women’s Federation Hong Kong Delegates Association Ltd. and the Hong Kong Federation of Shanghai Associations, the programme has the full support of Shanghai Women’s Federation. Funded by the “Funding Scheme for Youth Internship in the Mainland”, which is co-organised by the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau and the Youth Development Commission, all expenses of the students during the journey were fully covered.
