On 24 June 2024, Professor Alex Wai, JP, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU, hosted a dinner at Shiu Pong Hall in honour of Mr. Simon Yim and Mrs. Joyce Yim, Founding Chairman and Director respectively of the Hong Kong Panda Education Foundation. Joining the occasion were guests and friends of Mr. Yim, including Ms. Connie Wong, GBS, JP, Co-Chairman of the Entrepreneur Committee and Member of the Board of Governors of the HKBU Foundation; Mr. Ben Chin, Member cum Convenor of Jilin Province CPPCC Standing Committee; Mr. Curtis Lee, Member cum Convenor of Xiamen CPPCC Standing Committee; Mr. Kelvin Chen, Member of Nanjing CPPCC Standing Committee; Mr. Fu Guanhui, Senior Vice President of OKG Technology Holdings Limited; and Mr. Cai Yuanshan, General Manager of Guangdong Yingbei Cultural Communication Company Limited. 

The guests were warmly received by HKBU representatives including Ms. Christine Chow, Vice-President (Administration) and Secretary; Professor Terence Lau, Interim Chief Innovation Officer; Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation; Dr. Ken Yeung and Mr. Vincent Lee, Director of Technology Translation and Senior Manager of Technology Translation respectively of the Institute for Innovation, Translation and Policy Research. On the occasion, guests exchanged views on the University’s strategic development.  

Before the dinner, the guests were accompanied by Professor Jeffrey Shaw, Chair Professor of the Academy of Visual Arts for a tour to the Visualization Research Centre. After that, they visited the Motion Capture and Visualization Laboratory, at which Dr. Chen Jie, Assistant Professor of the Department of Computer Science gave a presentation on precise three-dimensional joint trajectories.
