The University received an additional donation from Wei Lun Foundation Limited (the Foundation) in support of its eponymous scholarship scheme designated for HKBU students of China Studies. The Wei Lun Foundation China Studies Scholarship was founded in 1994, offering 4 scholarships of HK$8,000 each annually to China Studies students who have a record of outstanding performance.  

Aside from providing the scholarships, the Foundation has supported HKBU’s development in a variety of areas. These include the construction of a student hostel and David C. Lam Building, the Visiting Professorships Scheme, University’s strategic development and sponsoring students to undertake a summer sojourn at Tsinghua University.  

The Wei Lun Foundation Limited, a charitable institution which was founded by the late Dr. Lee Quo Wei and his wife, Mrs. Lee Yick Hoi Lun Helen in 1989, is an Honorary Permanent President of the HKBU Foundation.  The Foundation makes contributions to educational and medical institutions as well as charitable and community service organisations in Hong Kong, the Mainland and overseas to provide funding and resources to encourage and support advancements in the field of education and medicine.
