The University has recently received a new donation of HK$510,000 from Mrs. Shum Lam Kam Chu designated for the establishment of the “Shum Lam Kam Chu First-Generation University Student Scholarship”. This is the fifth student aid scheme set up by Mrs. Shum and her family at HKBU. Starting from the academic year 2024-25, 34 scholarships of HK$15,000 each will be awarded to full time local undergraduates who are first-generation university students in their families, enabling them to fully engage in diverse learning activities.

Mrs. Shum and her family are steadfast supporters of HKBU with a particular focus on enhancing student welfare. They have previously made multiple donations to the University for the establishment of scholarships, including the “Mrs. Lam Or Suk King Memorial Scholarship”, the “Shum Lam Kam Chu Chinese Medicine Scholarship”, the “Shum Lam Kam Chu Sport, Physical Education and Health Scholarship”, and the “Mrs. Shum Lam Kam Chu Bursary”.
