The Federation of Hong Kong Chiu Chow Community Organizations (the Federation) hosted a celebratory reception for the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China at Island Shangri-La Hotel on 23 September 2024. The event was well attended by around 500 dignitaries and honourable guests. Officiating guests included The Hon. John Lee, GBM, SBS, PDSM, PMSM, Chief Executive of the HKSAR; Mr. He Jing, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR; The Hon. Alice Mak, SBS, JP, Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs; Mr. Raymond Siu, PDSM, PMSM, Commissioner of Police; Mr. Chan Tsz Tat, CDSM, Acting Commissioner of Customs and Excise; and Dr. the Hon. Bunny Chan, GBM, GBS, JP, Chairman of the Federation. A number of HKBU Foundation members were also invited to join the celebration. They included Dr. Ian Chan, SBS, MH; Ms. Chan Oi Ching, SBS, JP; Mr. Alex Cheung; Mr. Hui Hok Chee, BBS; Dr. Winnie Ko, BBS, JP; Dr. Ma Kai Yum, BBS; Mrs. Katherine Ngan, MH, JP; Dr. Allen Shi, SBS, MH, JP; and Dr. Wong Shu Yui. Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation, attended the event on behalf of the University.
