Professor Terence Lau says the University strives to translate its research deliverables for the benefit of society
2024 marks a significant milestone as the HKBU Foundation celebrates its 15th anniversary. Since its inception, the Foundation has served as a cornerstone of the University’s advancement, opening up numerous opportunities for both students and faculty. On this remarkable occasion, we are delighted to launch a series of exclusive interviews with our members, giving you a deeper understanding of the Foundation’s work and the impact of donations.
In the ninth episode, Professor Terence Lau, Interim Chief Innovation Officer of HKBU, highlights that knowledge transfer is the University’s “third mission”, which aims to create positive impacts through the translation of research deliverables into real-world applications. He also notes that the Wu Jieh Yee Institute of Translational Chinese Medicine Research, established with a generous donation of HK$230 million from the Wu Jieh Yee Charitable Foundation, partners with different sectors to facilitate research commercialisation. This effort will not only bolster HKBU’s leadership in the field of Chinese medicine but also benefit Hong Kong, the Nation and the world.
