HKBU hosts lunch in honour of Professor Raymond R. Wong
In celebration of the birthday of Professor Raymond R. Wong, SBS, Honorary Permanent President of the HKBU Foundation, Professor Alex Wai, JP, President and Vice-Chancellor, hosted a lunch in his honour at Shiu Pong Hall on 4 November 2024.
The lunch brought together several HKBU alumni who were students of Professor Wong during the 70s and 90s, along with his friends, including Mr. Stanley Mok, Ms. Tammy Tam, Mr. John Liauw and Ms. Bonnie Chiu. HKBU representatives in attendance included Professor Wai’s wife, Mrs. Sheila Wai; Professor Zhong Bu, Dean of the School of Communication; Professor Raymond Li, Head and Professor of Practice of the Department of Journalism; Professor Chan King Cheung, BBS, Raymond. R. Wong Endowed Professor in Media Ethics and Professor of Practice of the Department of Journalism; Mr. Pun Wai Lam, Associate Professor of Practice of the Department of Journalism; and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation. The guests extended their warmest wishes to Professor Wong, and exchanged views on the recent developments of the University, especially regarding the School of Communication.
Professor Raymond R. Wong, the recipient of an Honorary Doctorate of Social Sciences from HKBU, has made tremendous contributions to journalism education and chaired the Committee on Review of Public Service Broadcasting following his retirement. He is also a staunch supporter of HKBU, having established the Dorothy Shen Wong Memorial Fund with a generous donation of HK$50 million to support a wide range of strategic initiatives launched by the School of Communication.
