Dinner in honour of representatives of Hung Hin Shiu Charitable Foundation

Dr. Clement Chen, GBS, JP, Chairman of the Council and the Court, and Professor Alex Wai, JP, President and Vice-Chancellor of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), co-hosted a dinner on 28 November 2024 for Mr. Billy Hung, Mrs. Simmy Hung, Mr. James Wong and Mrs. Elizabeth Hung Wong of Hung Hin Shiu Charitable Foundation Limited (the Foundation). The dinner served as a sincere expression of gratitude from the University to the Hung family and the Foundation for their zealous support spanning more than five decades.

HKBU representatives attending the dinner included Professor Lyu Aiping, Vice-President (Research and Development) cum Dean of the Graduate School and Acting Dean of School of Chinese Medicine; Ms. Christine Chow, Vice-President (Administration) and Secretary; Professor Bian Zhaoxiang, MH, Associate Vice-President (Clinical Chinese Medicine); Professor Rick Wong, Senior Advisor to President and Vice-Chancellor; and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation. The guests exchanged views on the University’s latest strategic developments and the proposed revitalisation of the Dr. and Mrs. Hung Hin Shiu Museum of Chinese Medicine.

The Hung family and the Foundation, long-standing supporters of HKBU, have made tremendous contributions to the University’s institutional advancement. Their benefactions include the University’s Institutional Strategic Plan 2018-2028, the establishment of the “Institute of Creativity – Dr. Hung Hin Shiu Development Fund”, endowed professorships, a variety of scholarships, and staunch support for the Chaplain’s Office Campus Ministry. Mr. Billy Hung, as Director of Shiu Pong Enterprises Limited, currently serves on the Court of HKBU and the Board of Governors of the HKBU Foundation, contributing significantly to the University’s governance and strategic development. Meanwhile, Mrs. Elizabeth Hung Wong, in her capacity as Dean of the Executive Committee of the Hong Kong Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, is a steadfast advocate for the University’s initiatives in nurturing young musical talent.
