Meeting with representatives of Tin Ka Ping Foundation

Representatives from Tin Ka Ping Foundation (the Foundation) visited the University on 7 February 2025. The delegation consisted of Mr. Tin Wing Sin, Chairman of the Board; Professor Wong Yuk Shan, GBS, JP, Chairman of the Advisory Board; Dr. Yuen Pong Yiu, Executive Chairman of the Board; and Mr. Bryan Tin, Group Chief Executive Officer. HKBU representatives in attendance included Professor Alex Wai, JP, President and Vice-Chancellor; Professor Andrew Kwok, Associate Vice-President (Curriculum and Pedagogies); Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation; and Dr. Lisa Lam, Director of the Centre for Innovative Service-Learning.

Embracing the Lunar New Year, both parties conveyed their blessings and goodwill. They also exchanged views on promoting the development of education. Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Tin Wing Sin said, “Since 2010, the Foundation has been transforming its governance structure by inviting Presidents of local universities and community leaders to participate in the Advisory Board and Board of Directors. Their valuable inputs have advanced the Foundation’s operations and development, enabling us to uphold our commitment to making impactful contributions to the community and the Nation.”

Professor Wai expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the zealous support provided by the Foundation over the years and felt honoured to serve as a member of the Foundation’s Advisory Board in his capacity as the President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU. Other representatives of HKBU also briefed on the progress and milestones achieved by the projects supported by the Foundation.

Founded in 1982 by the late Dr. Tin Ka Ping, the Foundation has consistently been devoted to advancing education across the Greater China Region. It aims to improve the quality of education by fostering moral education, promoting Chinese culture and encouraging integration with global civilisations, thereby contributing to the Nation. Since 1997, the Foundation has extended substantial support to a variety of endeavours at HKBU. Notable recent projects include the Character and Ethics Development Scheme and the expansion of the Tin Ka Ping Foundation Service-Learning Programme.
