HKBU and NVIDIA jointly host symposiums on art-tech and health-tech

04 March 2025

Hosted by the Department of Computer Science at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), the HKBU-NVIDIA Joint Symposium 2025 recently came to a successful close. This year’s event was structured into two phases: the first, centred around art-tech, was completed in February, while the second, focusing on the latest technological progress in healthcare, was held on 4 March 2025.

The second phase featured 12 distinguished speakers who presented groundbreaking advancements in medical technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) diagnostics, highlighting the integration of AI with clinical data to enhance patient outcomes. Among the keynote speakers was Professor Simon See, Chief Solutions Architect and Global Head of the NVIDIA AI Technology Centre. He explored the transformative potential of generative AI in medical applications and introduced NVIDIA BioNeMo, a pioneering platform designed to optimise foundational models for drug discovery.

Speakers from HKBU included Professor Lyu Aiping, Vice-President (Research and Development) cum Dean of the Graduate School; Professor Liu Jiming, Associate Vice-President (Research Development); and Professor William Cheung, Associate Vice-President (Transdisciplinary Education), among others. Professor Michael Ng Kwok Po, Dean of Science, also attended the symposium to offer his support.

Since 2022, the HKBU-NVIDIA Joint Symposium, jointly organised by HKBU and NVIDIA, has reinforced the vital connection between academia and industry, fostering transdisciplinary collaboration to advance AI applications across diverse fields.
