Made possible by a HK$452 million donation from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the Jockey Club Campus of Creativity is located at Renfrew Road in Kowloon Tong, providing residential accommodation for over 1,700 students. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities across various creative disciplines, the Campus is poised to become a vital base for creative education, supporting the vision outlined in the National 14th Five-Year Plan to develop Hong Kong into the Hub for Arts and Cultural Exchanges between China and the rest of the world.

The opening ceremony was graced by distinguished guests and University representatives, including Dr. Choi Yuk Lin, JP, Secretary for Education of HKSAR; Mrs. Ann Kung Yeung Yun Chi, BBS, JP, Steward of The Hong Kong Jockey Club; Professor James Tang Tuck Hong, Secretary-General of the University Grants Committee; Dr. the Hon. Kennedy Wong, BBS, JP, Chairman of the Council and the Court of HKBU and Chairman of the Board of Governors of the HKBU Foundation; Ir Professor Paul Poon, MH, Deputy Chairman of the Council and the Court; Mr. Kevin Liem, Treasurer of the Council and the Court and the HKBU Foundation; and Professor Alex Wai, JP, President and Vice-Chancellor.

In his welcome address, Dr. Kennedy Wong expressed his heartfelt gratitude to The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and all donors for their generous support. He emphasised that the Jockey Club Campus of Creativity is more than just a physical campus - it holds immense potential as a platform for innovative collaboration and transformative change. With Art-Tech as a strategic focus, he firmly believed that the Campus would drive a fusion of art and technology, serving as a key pillar for Hong Kong’s creative industries and reinforcing the city’s long-term position as a regional and global cultural hub.

Professor Alex Wai introduced the distinctive features of the Jockey Club Campus of Creativity, highlighting its emphasis on innovation, collaboration and sustainability. The Campus integrates learning, living and social functions, offering opportunities to nurture students’ creativity and collaboration. It incorporates green architectural principles and innovative energy-saving technologies. The central courtyard and breezeways also improve natural ventilation, while the stepped building profile enhances natural light and provides green recreational spaces for students.

In her speech, Mrs. Ann Kung said the Campus was a shining example of The Hong Kong Jockey Club’s commitment to talent development and the betterment of society. She added that the opening of the Campus marks the start of a journey to nurture 21st century learners and foster creative industries in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.

The Campus is also home to the Jockey Club Creative Hub and the HKBU Academy of Music. It is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for music, film and other creative disciplines, including the Jockey Club White Box Experimental Space, to foster transdisciplinary development.
