Dinner in honour of representatives of Hung Hin Shiu Charitable Foundation
Dr. the Hon. Kennedy Wong, BBS, JP, Chairman of the Council and the Court of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) and Chairman of the Board of Governors of the HKBU Foundation, along with Professor Alex Wai, JP, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU, hosted a dinner on 29 April 2025 to honour Mr. Billy Hung, Mr. James Wong and Mrs. Elizabeth Hung Wong of Hung Hin Shiu Charitable Foundation Limited. The dinner expressed the University’s heartfelt gratitude for the Hung family and their Foundation’s zealous support spanning more than five decades.
HKBU representatives in attendance included Professor Lyu Aiping, Vice-President (Research and Development) cum Dean of the Graduate School; Ms. Christine Chow, Vice-President (Administration) and Secretary; Professor Bian Zhaoxiang, MH, Associate Vice-President (Clinical Chinese Medicine); Professor Rick Wong, Senior Advisor to President and Vice-Chancellor; and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation. During the evening, the guests were updated on the latest developments on various initiatives, including the proposed revitalisation of the Dr. and Mrs. Hung Hin Shiu Museum of Chinese Medicine.
The Hung family and their Foundation have been staunch benefactors of HKBU, significantly contributing to the University’s advancement on various fronts. Their notable contributions include funding the construction of Shiu Pong Hall, backing the University’s Institutional Strategic Plan 2018-2028, establishing the “Institute of Creativity – Dr. Hung Hin Shiu Development Fund”, setting up endowed professorships and scholarships, and providing support for the campus ministry.
