Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) recently received a generous donation of HK$100,000 from Mr. Alex Dong Choi Chi, Chairman of Dong Foundation, for the establishment of the “Dong Foundation Film Scholarship”. This initiative aims to motivate Year 4 undergraduates at the Academy of Film to excel in their graduation projects, translating academic knowledge into creative practice.  

Starting from the academic year 2024-2025, the Scholarship will be awarded annually over five consecutive years. Each year, the Academy of Film will honour two top-ranked narrative short film Honours Projects, with each winning team receiving an award of HK$10,000, to be shared equally among its members. 

Mr. Dong, also Chairman of Sunny Side Up Culture Holdings Limited, brings extensive expertise in the cultural and creative industries and a deep commitment to local creative talent development. His philanthropic support for HKBU began in 2022 with the establishment of the “Dong Foundation Young Talent Scholarship” for outstanding students of the School of Creative Arts. This latest donation further demonstrates his steadfast dedication to nurturing the next generation of creative leaders and advancing the growth of the industries through HKBU. Mr. Dong is currently recognised as Honorary Vice-President of the HKBU Foundation.
