A delegation from the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) Foundation visited Zhuhai on 18 November 2025 to participate in the 20th anniversary celebrations of Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU). The visit commemorated the significant milestone of BNBU, the first liberal arts university jointly established by the higher education sectors of the Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong, and offered valuable insights into its two-decade transformation.

The delegation included Professor Roland Chin, President Emeritus of HKBU, and Mrs. Zina Chin; Mrs. Susan So, SBS, BBS, member of the Board of Governors of the Foundation; Mr. Hung Kwong Yee and Mr. Lam Cheung Chuen, members of the Entrepreneur Committee of the Foundation; Mr. Kevin Ng, member of the Young Entrepreneur Committee of the Foundation; along with other members of the Foundation and representatives of the University, such as Mr. Paul Pang; Ms. Pau Chun Ping; Professor Dickson Shang; Mr. So Wing Kin and Mrs. Nora So; Mr. Wong Nga Chung; Ms. Christine Chow, Vice-President (Administration) and Secretary; and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement of HKBU and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation.

The delegation was warmly received by BNBU representatives, including Professor Chen Zhi, President; Professor Patrick Chau, Provost and Chair Professor; and Professor Mao Yaqing, Party Secretary, Vice President (Administration), and Chairman of the BNBU Education Foundation.

During the luncheon, the delegation was briefed on BNBU’s latest developments and achievements. They then visited the Learning Resource Centre on campus, where they appreciated a recent exhibition on Chinese shadow puppetry, and learned about BNBU’s efforts to promote this national intangible cultural heritage. In addition, the delegation witnessed a tree-planting ceremony and attended a roundtable forum featuring several Nobel laureates, which explored the opportunities and challenges facing science in the era of artificial intelligence. The visit concluded with the main anniversary celebrations, including the 20th Anniversary Development Ceremony and the Gala Dinner, where the delegation joined BNBU’s faculty and students in celebrating this joyous occasion.
