“HKBU.ASHWORTH Golf Day 2025” proceeds of HK$1.6 million redirected to support Tai Po fire affected residents
In solidarity with the residents affected by the tragic Wang Fuk Court fire in Tai Po, Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) has cancelled its annual signature fundraising event, the “HKBU.ASHWORTH Golf Day 2025”, which was originally scheduled for 28 November 2025.
Thanks to the ardent support of sponsors and participants, the cancelled event still raised HK$1.6 million in net proceeds (after deducting the portion already allocated to the University’s interdisciplinary research projects under the HKSAR Government’s Research Matching Grant Scheme). With the kind consent of the participants, HKBU will donate the proceeds to the “Support Fund for Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po” established by the Government, providing tangible support to those affected and aiding the community’s recovery.
HKBU would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to all event sponsors and partners, particularly the Chan Yin Chuen Memorial Charitable Foundation and ASHWORTH, Title and Golf Shirt Sponsor; Regal Holdings Corporation, Venue Sponsor; and the Hong Kong Golf Club, Venue Partner. Their gracious understanding in waiving cancellation-related costs and their wholehearted support in redirecting the funds have made this meaningful contribution possible.
