HKBU receives HK$1 million donation from Philip K.H. Wong Foundation to launch “Wang Fuk Chinese Medicine Free Consultation Scheme”
Following the fire incident at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) has swiftly received a HK$1 million donation initiated by Dr. the Hon. Kennedy Wong, BBS, JP, Chairman of the Council and the Court of HKBU and Chairman of the Board of Governors of the HKBU Foundation, through the Philip K.H. Wong Foundation. The donation supports the School of Chinese Medicine (SCM) in launching the “HKBU Wang Fuk Chinese Medicine Free Consultation Scheme”, addressing the physical and mental well-being needs of affected residents and rescue personnel. Following Dr. Wong’s lead, this initiative has garnered enthusiastic responses and active support from numerous community-minded individuals and organisations.
Under the Scheme, five clinics operated directly by SCM will provide comprehensive free Chinese medicine services to Wang Fuk Court residents and the personnel involved in the rescue efforts. Services include Chinese medicine consultations, herbal prescriptions, acupuncture and massage, as well as health talks, all designed to help affected individuals accelerate their physical and mental recovery. Video consultation service is also available for those with limited mobility. The first phase of the Scheme runs from 8 December 2025 to 6 February 2026. For further details, please click here.
Established in 1990 by the late legal magnate Dr. Philip Wong Kin Hang, the Philip K.H. Wong Foundation is dedicated to advancing charitable causes, particularly in education, across the Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong. Over the years, it has generously backed a variety of HKBU initiatives, including establishing the Endowed Professorship in Chinese Medicine (Geriatric Medicine) and supporting SCM research projects. Notably, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Foundation funded SCM’s distribution of free Chinese Medicine Influenza Prevention Remedy to frontline healthcare workers and people in need.
