Beacons of Generosity: Illuminating 70 Years of HKBU ─ The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust (Part 1)
Looking back on the extraordinary 70 years of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), the HKBU Foundation (the Foundation) wishes to extend its deepest gratitude to all those partners who have journeyed alongside the University through its challenges and triumphs. Your generosity shines like warm beams of light, constantly illuminating each step made in HKBU’s growth and transformation.
In celebration of the University’s 70th anniversary, the Foundation is proud to present a series of donor stories that chronicle the profound bonds and significant contributions made by HKBU’s esteemed benefactors. The story of this issue is dedicated to The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust (the Trust) and highlights its far-reaching contributions to campus development, creative education and talent cultivation.
The Hong Kong Jockey Club made its first donation to Hong Kong Baptist College in 1978, initiating a steadfast partnership that has spanned nearly five decades of transformative University development. Over the years, the Trust has generously championed numerous landmark initiatives, including the construction of the Jockey Club Academic Community Centre and the Student Residence Halls. In 2005, it funded the establishment of the Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre (JCCAC), Hong Kong’s first factory-turned artist village and arts centre. More recently, the Trust has extended its profound support towards the development of the Jockey Club Campus of Creativity, further strengthening HKBU’s leadership in creative education and transdisciplinary development.
This is Part 1 of a two-part video tribute to the Trust. Please stay tuned to the Foundation’s eNewsletter for Part 2.
