Eight Foundation members and three donors receive honours from HKSAR Government

Eight HKBU Foundation members and three donors of the University were included in this year's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Chief Executive Honours List in recognition of their significant contributions to Hong Kong and their dedicated public and community service.

Grand Bauhinia Medal (GBM)

Dr. Li Dak Sum, GBM, JP, donor of the University, was awarded the GBM in recognition of his long and distinguished community and charity service, particularly his remarkable contributions to higher education and nurturing of talent. Dr. Li is a successful entrepreneur and a highly respected philanthropist. He is renowned for his outstanding achievement in the commercial sector with diversified business development. He has also made significant donations to universities and other institutes for the pursuit of academic excellence. For many decades, he has dedicated himself tirelessly and given generous support to the education field. He is currently Chairman of Roxy Property Investment Co. Ltd.

Gold Bauhinia Star (GBS)

Dr. Wilfred Wong, GBS, JP, Chairman of the Board of Governors and Honorary President of the HKBU Foundation, was awarded the GBS for his long and distinguished public and community service, particularly his significant contributions to promoting the development of the local film industry. During his tenure as member and Vice-Chairman of the Film Development Council since 2007 and 2013 respectively, Dr. Wong has participated actively and tendered valuable advice on various aspects to the Council. Dr. Wong has also devoted much effort to the development of arts and culture, and the management of civil service matters in Hong Kong. He is currently Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Hsin Chong Construction Group Limited.

Dr. Lee Ka Kit, Peter, GBS, JP, Director of Lee Shau Kee Foundation Limited, Honorary Permanent President of the HKBU Foundation, was awarded the GBS for his distinguished community and charity service, particularly his significant and generous assistance to various organisations and his dedication to helping the underprivileged and the needy, as well as promoting youth service and development.  He has spared no effort in supporting the government’s poverty alleviation policies and has made valuable contributions to fostering social harmony in the community. He is currently Vice Chairman of Henderson Development Limited.

Bronze Bauhinia Star (BBS)

Mr. Cheng Yan Kee, BBS, JP, Chairman of the Council and the Court of HKBU and Sponsoring Member of the HKBU Foundation, was awarded the BBS for his distinguished public and community service, particularly his dedicated and remarkable contributions to the Hospital Authority. He is currently Director of HK Cheng and Partners Limited.

Mrs. Susan So, BBS, Member of the Board of Governors and the Entrepreneur Committee and Honorary President of the HKBU Foundation, was awarded the BBS for her distinguished public and community service, particularly her dedication and significant contributions to the work of the Hospital Authority and Yan Chai Hospital. She is currently Vice-Chairman of Winnie Sanitary Product Limited.

Mr. Irons Sze, BBS, JP, Permanent Honorary President of The Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong, Honorary President of the HKBU Foundation, was awarded the BBS for his dedicated and meritorious public service, as well as his significant contributions to the development of the business sector in Hong Kong. He is currently Executive Director of Hang Tung Resources Holding Limited.

Dr. Wong Man Li, BBS, Honorary Vice-President of the HKBU Foundation, was awarded the BBS for his meritorious community and charity service, as well as his contributions to the local industrial sector. He is currently Chairman of Man Wah Holdings Co. Ltd.

Mr. Choi Ngai Min, BBS, JP, Sponsoring Member of the HKBU Foundation, was awarded the BBS for his dedicated public and community service, particularly his valuable contributions to the work of the Hong Kong Housing Authority. He is currently Chairman of Land Power International Holdings Limited.

Mr. Sze Wing Hang, BBS, donor of the University, was awarded the BBS for his valuable contributions to charity and community service, particularly his work as Chairman of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals. He is currently Director of Hang Tung Resources Holding Limited.

Mr. Chan Man Chau, BBS, donor of the University, was awarded the BBS for his dedication and contributions to charity and community service, as well as fostering economic and cultural development between Hong Kong and the Mainland. He is currently President of Chung Kam Koon Yik Jewellery Company Limited.

Medal of Honour (MH)

Mrs. Katherine Ngan, MH, JP, Honorary President of The Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong, Honorary President of the HKBU Foundation, was awarded the MH for her dedication to public and community service and her contributions to the industrial development of Hong Kong. She is currently Vice President of May Cheong Toy Products Factory Limited.
