HKBU receives HK$1 million from Tan Siu Lin Foundation
The University recently received from the Tan Siu Lin Foundation a generous donation of HK$1 million designated for the establishment of the Dr. Tan Siu Lin Scholarship to support each year five freshmen majoring in History to participate in overseas exchange programmes.
In recognition of the Foundation’s generosity, a cheque presentation ceremony officiated by Dr. Tan Siu Lin (centre), Chairman of the Tan Siu Lin Foundation and Founder and Chairman of Luen Thai International Group Limited (LTIG), and Professor Roland T. Chin, President and Vice-Chancellor, was held on 25 May 2016. Guests and HKBU representatives attending the ceremony included Dr. Henry Tan, BBS, JP (left), Vice-Chairman of the Tan Siu Lin Foundation and Chief Executive Officer of LTIG; Mr. Li Hexie, Secretary General of the Tan Siu Lin Foundation and Senior Former Vice President of LTIG; Mr. Christopher Ho, Director of Chairman’s Office of LTIG; Professor Frank Fu, MH, JP, Associate Vice-President and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation; Professor Clara Ho, Head of the Department of History; Professor Chow Kai Wing and Professor Lee Kam Keung of the Department of History; and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement. After the ceremony, Professor Chin hosted a lunch for the guests at his residence Shiu Pong Hall.
