The HKBU Foundation records with deepest sorrow the passing of Mr. Liu Hao Tsing, Founder of the Liu Hao Tsing Education Foundation, Honorary Permanent President of the HKBU Foundation, and an Honorary University Fellow (2007) of HKBU.

Mr. Liu, Founder of Feoso Oil Ltd., was a distinguished entrepreneur who managed several dozen enterprises in Hong Kong, Mainland China, Singapore and other countries. He participated enthusiastically in community service and he had an impressive record of public service. He served as a Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. He was also Honorary President of the Hong Kong Petroleum, Chemicals and Pharmaceutical Materials Merchants Association Limited, and of the Hong Kong and Kowloon Steel and Metal Importers and Exporters Association Limited. He was awarded the Honorary Citizen of Guangzhou and the Honorary Citizen of Shanghai Awards in 1993 and 1999 respectively.

Mr. Liu was also a highly respected philanthropist who contributed significantly to the development of education in Hong Kong and Mainland China through his remarkable contribution to the work of the Liu Hao Tsing Education Foundation. Since 2005, Mr. Liu had made generous donations in support of the University’s institutional advancement and for the establishment of the Liu Hao Tsing Scholarship Fund.

The Foundation conveys its heartfelt condolences to the Liu family at this time of bereavement. Mr. Liu will always be remembered for his zealous support for the University’s development.
