In Memoriam: Dr. Yeh Meou Tsen Geoffrey

The HKBU Foundation records with deepest sorrow the passing of Dr. Yeh Meou Tsen Geoffrey, MBE, SBS, JP, donor of HKBU, on 16 October 2016. He was 85 years old.

Dr. Yeh was a prominent entrepreneur and was highly regarded in the construction and financial sectors. He had an impressive record in public service by serving in a number of important positions including Chairman of the Hong Kong Futures Exchange Limited, Vice-President of the Hong Kong Construction Association, and President of the Society of Builders, making significant contributions to the development of the construction, futures exchange and the financial market. Dr. Yeh was appointed to the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 1981. He was awarded the Silver Bauhinia Star by the HKSAR Government in 2000.

Dr. Yeh attached great importance to the value of education and he was a longstanding supporter of HKBU since 1972. Over the years, he had made generous donations in support of various endeavours of the University through The Incorporated Trustees of the Hsin Chong – K. N. Godfrey Yeh Education Fund, including campus development, student programmes, and the setting up of various scholarships and bursaries. In 2002, he also established the Endowment Fund for International Co-operation & Academic Exchange on Chinese Medicine to promote the research and development of Chinese medicine at HKBU.

The Foundation conveys its heartfelt condolences to the Yeh family at this time of bereavement. Dr. Yeh will always be remembered for his zealous support and contributions to the University’s development.
