The University recently received a generous donation from Ms. Chow Sak Ying, School Manager of Kowloon Sam Yuk Secondary School, in support of a service learning project for English language education. HKBU students who have taken English language teaching courses will provide pedagogical support for diverse learners in secondary schools through conducting teaching practice. These teachers-to-be can integrate and apply theory into classroom practice and make contributions to the education sector.

In acknowledgement of the donor’s generosity, a recognition ceremony officiated by Ms. Chow Sak Ying; Dr. Cissy Li, Head of Language Centre; and Dr. Choi Tat Heung, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Education Studies of Faculty of Social Sciences, was held on 16 November 2017. The ceremony was witnessed by Ms. Grace Wong Chung Yan, Head of School of Kowloon Sam Yuk Secondary School, and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation. Mrs. Chan expressed her deep gratitude for Ms. Chow’s generous support towards the University.
