HKBU receives HK$5 million from Laboratory JaneClare Limited

Guests toured around the School of Chinese Medicine
The University recently received a generous donation of HK$5 million from Laboratory JaneClare Limited for the establishment of the “JaneClare Transdermal TCM Therapy Laboratory”, in support of product and talent development for the School of Chinese Medicine (SCM).
In recognition of the Company’s generosity, a cheque presentation ceremony was held on 21 November 2017. It was officiated by Ms. Angela Lee, BBS, JP, Chairman of Laboratory JaneClare Limited; Professor Roland T. Chin, President and Vice-Chancellor; Professor Rick Wong, Vice-President (Research and Development); Professor Lyu Aiping, Dean of SCM; Professor Yu Zhiling, Associate Director of the SCM Technology Development Division.
In his address, Professor Chin expressed his heartfelt gratitude for Ms. Lee’s generous support towards the University and said the collaboration was a significant one. He added that JaneClare and the SCM shared the same vision and goal of exploring and conducting research for the benefit of people’s health. The high-calibre research teams would use state-of-the-art technology to develop new treatments and drugs from Chinese herbs.
Ms. Angela Lee said JaneClare produced high quality, efficacious skincare products with nil harmful ingredients, and successfully used Chinese medicinal herbs to replace chemical preservatives in their products. HKBU takes a leading role in Chinese medicine research in which numerous of its publications have high citation counts. She strongly believed that the collaboration would definitely lead to more quality, effective and healthy beauty products for the community.
Guests attending the ceremony included Mr. Charles Lo, Mr. Joseph Lee and Miss Fiona Leung, Executive Directors and Customer Relations Manager respectively of Laboratory JaneClare Limited, and other representatives and friends of the Company. They were joined by Professor Chen Hubiao, Programme Director of Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons) in Chinese Medicine Programme, and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation. After the ceremony, Professor Chin hosted a lunch for the guests at his residence Shiu Pong Hall.
Guests also visited the “JaneClare Transdermal TCM Therapy Laboratory” and the featured facilities of the SCM following the lunch.
