The University recently received a generous donation of HK$1 million from Mrs. Sophia Dan, BBS, MH, JP, Chairman of Wah Fu Petroleum Co., Ltd., designated for the establishment of “Dan Yang Wing Man Mainland Exchange Scholarship for Chinese Medicine Students”. The Scholarship aims to support students of the School of Chinese Medicine to participate in exchange activities at Chinese Medicine universities and hospitals on the Mainland.

To acknowledge the donor’s generosity, a recognition ceremony was held on 5 September 2018, which was officiated by Mrs. Sophia Dan and Professor Roland T. Chin, President and Vice-Chancellor. Other guest and HKBU representatives attending the ceremony included Mr. Brandon Liu, JP, Member of the Board of Governors of the HKBU Foundation and Managing Director of Liu Hao Tsing Education Foundation Limited; Professor Bian Zhaoxiang, Associate Vice-President (Chinese Medicine Development) and Director of the Clinical Division of the School of Chinese Medicine; Mr. Yeung Chee Kong, Associate Vice-President (Engagement); Professor Lyu Aiping, Dean of Chinese Medicine; and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation. After the ceremony, Professor Chin hosted a lunch for the guests at his residence Shiu Pong Hall.
