University expresses gratitude to supporters of First-Generation University Student Fund
To express the University’s gratitude to the supporters of our First-Generation University Student Fund and to provide an opportunity for the beneficiaries to thank the donors in person, a dinner reception was held on 15 March 2019.
Organised by the Office of Student Affairs, the dinner was well attended by a number of HKBU Foundation members and supporters. They included Mr. Wong Nga Chung; Dr. Jacinto Tong; Mr. Dickson Shang; Mr. Lau Pak Shing; Mr. Tyrone Siu; Ms. Agnes Wong; Ms. Marianna Tsang; Professor James Tsien and Professor Teresa Tsien; Mr. Kent Tsui; Professor Peter Kwan; and Mr. Ip Ka Po. Professor Roland T. Chin, President and Vice-Chancellor; Dr. Albert Chau, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning); and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation, also joined the dinner.
Since its implementation in 2017, the Fund has awarded grants to 600 first-generation local undergraduate students, enabling them to expand their participation in outside-of-classroom activities such as overseas exchanges, internships, as well as study and service programmes. Over the past two years, many alumni and supporters have generously contributed nearly HK$2 million in total to the Fund.
