Agreement signing ceremony for the gift of HK$100 million from Hung Hin Shiu Charitable Foundation and Shiu Pong Enterprises
HKBU recently received a HK$100 million donation from the Hung family through Hung Hin Shiu Charitable Foundation Limited and Shiu Pong Enterprises Limited in support of the University’s strategic development.
A donation agreement was signed between Mr. Billy Hung, representative of Hung Hin Shiu Charitable Foundation Limited and Director of Shiu Pong Enterprises Limited, and Professor Roland T. Chin, President and Vice-Chancellor, at a ceremony on 16 October 2019. It was witnessed by Dr. Kennedy Wong, BBS, JP, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the HKBU Foundation, and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation.
Professor Chin expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Billy Hung for the Hung family’s longstanding support for HKBU since the 1970s and this mega gift in particular. This timely donation will enable the University to implement its Institutional Strategic Plan 2018-2028 and achieve its aspiration of becoming a leading liberal arts University in Asia for the world.
The Hung family has been dedicated supporter of HKBU. The late Dr. Hung Hin Shiu contributed tremendously to the University’s governance and strategic development by serving on the Council and the Court, while his wife Dr. Hung Yeung Pong Wah has also made substantial contributions to the growth and development of the University over the years.
