HKBU receives donation of disinfection robots and medical supplies

Two autonomous disinfection robots were generously donated on 22 March 2022 by Miss Elaine Xu, Vice President (Public Affairs) of Shenzhen Pudu Technology Co., Ltd., in her own name to help the University step up its disinfection works on campus.
The robots, after being programmed, can conduct disinfection tasks by moving around the campus autonomously and emitting disinfectants with 360-degree coverage. Equipped with a motion sensor, the robots can detect objects during the process and avoid collisions. The robots have been assigned by the Estates Office to conduct tasks in public areas on the campus, helping the University to maintain environmental hygiene.
Miss Xu, who is an HKBU alumna, hopes the robots developed by the company she works for can support her alma mater in combating the coronavirus. Professor Guo Yike expressed his gratitude to Alumna Xu for her support, noting that the robots will help to keep the virus at bay and ensure a safe and healthy environment for the community.
In addition, the University received a donation of medical supplies on 22 February 2022 from Mr. Nature Yang, Chairman of Action Medical Sundries Limited, in support of the anti-epidemic efforts of the School of Chinese Medicine. The supplies included 2,000 protective gowns, 3,000 KN95 surgical masks, and medical products.
Professor Alexander Wai, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the company for its generous donation, and praised Mr. Yang for his big heart and commitment to Hong Kong. “The arrival of medical supplies cannot be more timely, as these are much needed items for our School of Chinese Medicine team treating patients at various elderly homes.”
Action Medical Sundries Limited is a hong kong-based firm with nearly four decades of history. The company specialises in production of face masks that comply with international standards and has been a supplier of surgical masks to public hospitals and other medical institutions.
