HKBU receives HK$1 million bequest from the late Mr. Tse Tak Sang in support of Chinese medicine clinical research
HKBU received a generous donation of HK$1 million from the late Mr. Tse Tak Sang’s family in April 2022, designated for the establishment of “Mr. & Mrs. Tse Yick Hin Chinese Medicine Clinical Research Fund”. The bequest was made by Mr. Tse’s family according to his will, as it was Mr. Tse’s last wish to donate the legacy in the name of his deceased parents in tribute to the couple’s charitable spirit. The fund will be used to support the clinical research of our School of Chinese Medicine.
Mr. Tse’s father, the late Mr. Tse Yick Hin, was known for his spirit of generosity and hard work. He spent the first half of his life working as an educator in the Chaoshan region, and the second half as a Chinese medicine practitioner in Hong Kong. For many years, he volunteered his services through the Tsuen Wan Trade Association and the Hong Kong and Kowloon Tsung Tak Benevolent Association, helping and benefitting the community at large. Seeing that the HKBU was designated by the Government as the operator of Hong Kong’s first-ever Chinese Medicine Hospital in recognition of its leading role in advancing the territory’s development of Chinese Medicine, and that the University had responded swiftly during the pandemic by providing free consultation and medication to the community with a view to saving lives, Mr. Tse’s family decided to support the University’s research development of Chinese medicine.
Professor Lyu Aiping, Dean of the School of Chinese Medicine, thanked Mr. Tse and his family for their generosity, “Chinese Medicine will be a key focus area of Hong Kong’s strategic development, this gift will definitely help the University to advance the standard of clinical research.”
