Mr. Joseph Han, Honorary Court Member of HKBU and President of Long Far Herbal Medicine Mfg. (HK) Ltd., together with Mr. Derek Cheng, Senior Advisor of Blackstone Group (HK) Ltd., visited the University on 12 October 2022, to gain a better understanding of the latest development on art tech at HKBU. They were warmly received by Professor Alexander Wai, JP, President and Vice-Chancellor (PVC) of HKBU; Mr. Alfred Sit, GBS, JP, Senior Advisor to PVC and Advisor of the Institute for Innovation, Translation and Policy Research of HKBU; Professor Johnny M. Poon, Associate Vice-President (Interdisciplinary Research) and Founding Dean of the School of Creative Arts; and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation. 

During the meeting, Mr. Cheng expressed that HKBU’s perfect combination of art and technology is seldom found in other Asian arts. He wished to explore the possibilities for future collaboration as the University has profound experience in the application of art tech for music.

Mr. Sit added that art tech will bring new opportunities for the creative industries and HKBU will play an important role in this area. Professor Poon further introduced the competitive edges and unique qualities of the University in the development of art tech and exchanged views on the application of artificial intelligence for arts creation.
