The Centre for Innovative Service-Learning (CISL) at HKBU hosted a two-day event on 7-8 June 2023 in celebration of its 5th anniversary. With the theme of “Transforming through Service & Innovation”, the event attracted over 100 participants, including scholars, community partners, social entrepreneurs, as well as staff and students of the University. Through the thematic sharing sessions, workshops and exhibitions, the event aimed to discuss how the University can create an impact on society and bring innovative thinking into community-engaged projects.

During the opening ceremony, Dr. Albert Chau, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) and Acting Dean of Arts, expressed his deep appreciation to the supporters from various sectors whose support has enabled the University to launch service-learning initiatives and social innovation programmes. These initiatives aim to nurture future-ready young talents and equip them with the skills and knowledge needed to make a positive impact on society. Dr. Lisa Lam, Director of CISL, highlighted how instructors, students and community partners creatively leveraged educational technologies to provide new, meaningful service-learning experiences for our service users. These efforts further demonstrate the University’s commitment to fostering social responsibility and innovation.

A number of HKBU Foundation Members attended this joyous occasion including Professor Calvin Tse and Mr. Felix Lio, Members of the HKBU Foundation Young Entrepreneur Committee; and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation.
