Over 550 runners from Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) took part in the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon on 21 January 2024, demonstrating HKBU’s strong sense of unity. HKBU runners comprised University staff members, students, alumni, and friends. Professor Alex Wai, JP, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU, completed the 10-kilometre run.

A number of HKBU representatives attended the event to show their support to HKBU runners. They included Professor Lyu Aiping, Vice-President (Research and Development) cum Dean of Graduate School; Dr. Albert Chau, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) and Acting Dean of Arts; Ms. Christine Chow, Vice-President (Administration) and Secretary; Professor Terence Lau, Interim Chief Innovation Officer of HKBU, and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of University Advancement and Secretary-General of the HKBU Foundation.

A booth was set up by HKBU at the Causeway Bay Sports Ground, at which around 50 teachers and students of our School of Chinese Medicine stood by to provide massage therapy for HKBU runners. The University presented gift packs stuffed with drinks, snacks, disinfectants, ointment and coupons to the participants after the run. We expressed our heartfelt appreciation to the following companies for sponsoring the souvenir packs (in alphabetical order):
