The Thanksgiving Reception of the Hong Kong Baptist University Foundation was held on 20 January 2016 to celebrate the 7th Anniversary of the Foundation and to express its heartfelt appreciation to Foundation members and friends of the University for their ardent support.

In his welcoming remarks, Professor Roland T. Chin, President and Vice-Chancellor, thanked members of the Board of Governors of the HKBU Foundation and supporters of the University for their constructive suggestions on HKBU’s strategic development.  Looking forward, Professor Chin said HKBU would continue to promote internationalisation and support more students going on overseas exchange for their development of a global vision.  HKBU aspires to become a world-class liberal arts university in Asia, with an emphasis on research, particularly the promotion of interdisciplinary research.

In his speech, Dr. Wilfred Wong, GBS, JP, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the HKBU Foundation, said the University had raised more than HK$1.1 billion for its long-term development since the Foundation's inception in 2009.  In addition, the number of Foundation members had increased by over threefold from 131 to 564.  Dr. Wong thanked all donors for their unstinting support and hoped that the Foundation would make further progress in the coming years.

To express the University's gratitude to the Honorary Vice-Presidents, Honorary Directors and Directors of the HKBU Foundation for their generosity, Dr. Wong and Professor Chin presented Foundation Certificates to them at the Reception.

The event was well attended by about 130 guests including members of the Council and the Board of Governors, Foundation members, friends of the University as well as staff and students.  They included Mr. Cheng Yan Kee, BBS, JP, Mrs. Pamela Chan, BBS, JP and Mrs. Doreen Chan, Chairman, Deputy Chairman and Treasurer respectively of the Council and the Court; Ir Dr. K.K. Wong, GBS, JP, Dr. Joseph Lee, GBS, JP and Dr. Ronald Lu, Vice-Chairmen of the Board of Govenors; Mr. William Leung, Chairman of the Alumni Committee; Dr. Kennedy Wong, BBS, JP, Mr. Brandon Liu, JP and Mr. Billy Hung, members of the Board of Governors; Dr. Stanley Lau, SBS, MH, JP, Mr. Lee Yuk Fat and Professor Raymond Leung, members of the Entrepreneur Committee; Mrs. Mary Suen, Mr. and Mrs. Fung Sun Kwan, Dr. and Mrs. Lee Shiu, Mr. So Chung Ping, MH, Mr. Allan Kwong, Mr. and Mrs. So Wing Kin and other Foundation members; as well as Vice-Presidents, Associate Vice-Presidents and Deans of HKBU.
