The University recently received a generous donation of HK$4 million from The Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (CMA) in support of the Scheme of Study Tour and Exchange for Undergraduates and Junior Chinese Medicine Practitioners of the School of Chinese Medicine. In recognition of the Association’s generosity, the teaching and research facilities on the mezzanine of the Jockey Club School of Chinese Medicine Building were named “The Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong Chinese Medicine Education Centre”.  A naming ceremony officiated by Dr. Eddy Li, BBS, JP, President of CMA, and Professor Roland T. Chin, President and Vice-Chancellor, was held on 22 June 2016.

At the ceremony, Professor Roland Chin expressed his gratitude to CMA for providing staunch support to the University over the years.  He said the recent donation made by CMA would enable our Chinese Medicine undergraduate students and junior Chinese medicine practitioners to experience for themselves beyond Hong Kong and reach out to the international arena.

In his speech, Dr. Eddy Li said CMA was committed to supporting the development of the education sector in the territory.  He believed that the establishment of this study tour and exchange scheme would provide valuable opportunities for Chinese Medicine students to develop their global vision and enhance their experience.

The ceremony was well attended by over 100 distinguished guests including Mr. William Leung, BBS, JP, Chairman of the Alumni Committee of the HKBU Foundation; Mrs. Mary Suen, Honorary Permanent President of the HKBU Foundation; Mrs. Luna Chiu, Director of Billabong Enterprises Co. Ltd.; Mr. David Chow Tak Fung, Founder and Managing Director of Easy Power Limited; representatives of CMA as well as staff, alumni, students and supporters of HKBU.
