Hong Kong Baptist University Founders’ Day Reception

The University hosted a Founders’ Day Reception on 10 March 2017 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre to celebrate its 61st anniversary. Officiating at the ceremony were Dr. Philip Chen, GBS, JP, Steward of The Hong Kong Jockey Club; Mr. Cheng Yan Kee, BBS, JP and Mrs. Doreen Chan, Chairman and Treasurer respectively of the Council and the Court; and Professor Roland T. Chin, President and Vice-Chancellor. Over 300 guests attended the reception, including government officials, Consuls General, Council and Court members, HKBU Foundation members, Honorary Doctorate and Fellowship recipients, alumni, staff, students and friends of the University.
In recognition of the generosity of our valued donors, Mr. Cheng Yan Kee and Professor Roland T. Chin presented HKBU Foundation Certificates to the new Honorary Permanent Presidents and Honorary Presidents this year. The new Honorary Permanent Presidents were The Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong; Mr. and Mrs. Allan Kwong; the Providence Foundation Limited; Tsim Sha Tsui District Kai Fong Welfare Association; and the Y.K. Jim Charitable Foundation. The new Honorary Presidents included Mr. Chow Tak Fung; the DC Foundation; Mr. Kwok Yuen Ho and Mrs. Betty Ho; Dr. Leung Lun, MH; Nong’s Company Limited; Shenzhen Century Global Supply Chain Company Limited; and Mr. Yip Sing Kit. Since its inception in 2009, the HKBU Foundation has recorded impressive achievements in terms of both the donation amount and the number of members, making a significant contribution to the sustainable development of the University.
